“I’d just had a baby at the time and I was feeling really fat like I was never gonna get hired again and all of the sudden I get the call, they want me to be on Glee and I get the script and I turn to page 35 and it says this whole thing, I’m gonna play the mother to the lead girl on Glee who on real life is 25 years old. So, um, it wasn’t the best day of my life but I figured ‘glass half full, glass half full.’ So, anyway, the thing is, I’m looking through the script and it says it’s gonna be this whole mother/daughter reunion thing and then we’re gonna sing Poker Face by Lady GaGa. And I was like, I don’t know, I mean, I’m not that prissy of a person, you know, but… Poker Face?! Cause I always sort of associated that song with some other things and.. there’s other… words on that song… baked goods… and I don’t know, but I said ‘glass half full, glass half full, I’m going with it. I’m fat and I need a job!’”

#remember when sookie was played by a fat actress and there were literally no jokes about her weight on the show? #remember how she wasn’t defined by her weight? #remember how she got to date and get married and have kids and not be just the token funny fat friend of the main character? #remember when she ~got her life together and was happy before lorelai and that wasn’t seen as threatening?
